Shartega IT – Weekly 1:1 Activity Report
Date: November 20, 2025
Attendees: Nic Connor (CEO, Shartega IT), George Fassett (Mebuis Business Advisors)
Meeting Format: Zoom (30 minutes scheduled; focus shifted due to urgent team issues)
Summary
Prior to the meeting, George prepared and shared a new streamlined agenda format designed to keep future 1:1s focused, measurable, and revenue-oriented (EOS-style rocks, quick wins, and Class 1 prospecting accountability). We attempted to follow this new structure today, but the conversation was necessarily dominated by emerging team retention risks related to the new Work-From-Home policy enforcement. This consumed most of the scheduled time and limited deeper sales metric review. Brief progress was made on Nic’s personal LinkedIn Class 1 outreach habit, and travel for the Shartega Christmas party was confirmed. At the end of the 30 minutes we transitioned directly into the broader Marketing & Sales meeting with Jordan.
Key Discussion: Work-From-Home Policy & Retention Risks
- Background: New policy requires 3 in-office days/week with Mondays mandatory. Significant pushback from several long-tenured, high-value technical resources.
- Individuals & Concerns:
- Chris Bryant (vCIO – Client Support): Strongly vocal about the change; relayed concerns from others and indicated personal consideration of departure.
- Doug Hoogland (Level 3+ Technician – critical resource): Has enjoyed full remote work for over 10 years. Cited major lifestyle impact (wife’s schedule, pets/animals). Initially resistant but has verbally committed to Mondays and likely Fridays going forward.
- Wes Zuro (Level 3+ Technician): Per Chris, stated he is “likely to leave.” Historical pattern of using external offers to negotiate raises (done twice previously; leadership agreed that was the final time).
- Decisions & Positioning (agreed in meeting):
- Nic is evaluating consolidating all Friday meetings/activities into Monday/Tuesday to create a stronger, more productive in-office Monday.
- Chris and Doug are in an objectively favorable situation at Shartega and are unlikely to actually exit despite complaints — viewing this as negotiation for concessions.
- Wes: If notice is received, accept immediately (no counter-offer). If no notice but interviewing is confirmed/suspected (time-off patterns appear aligned with potential interviews), move to a formal manage-out plan. Interviewing on company time while WFH was flagged as unethical and a clear boundary.
Sales & Prospecting Update (Brief – ~5-7 minutes)
- Acknowledged the two Class 1 CEO prospecting rocks from the new agenda (LinkedIn outreach & community visibility) but did not review last week’s numbers due to time.
- Live progress made:
- Nic added recurring LinkedIn prospecting blocks directly into his calendar during the call.
- Reinforced best practice: Always include a personalized message with the connection request itself (otherwise messaging is blocked until acceptance; InMail is the only alternative).
- Targeting remains Chicagoland dealership GMs/Controllers/Owners — prioritizing the hundreds of CATA dealerships Shartega does not yet serve.
- Commitment: These will appear as formal, trackable rocks on the EOS scorecard starting next week (initial target still 15 high-quality connects/week).
Other Items
- Christmas Party & On-Site Visit (December 11–13, 2025):
- George Fassett attendance confirmed.
- Itinerary: Arrive Thursday Dec 11, full office day + one-on-ones Friday Dec 12, Christmas party Friday evening, depart Saturday Dec 13.
- Travel expense invoice to be submitted this week.
Closing Note
At the 30-minute mark we ended the 1:1 and immediately rolled into the scheduled Marketing & Sales meeting with Jordan (separate agenda and notes owned by Jordan).
